Adrift Lab PhD student, Bali Lee, is excited to have been awarded an Australian Wildlife Society (AWS) University Grant and BirdLife Northern New South Wales Research Grant for her project investigating whether microplastic exposure contributes to inflammation. AWS received a record number of applications to their University Grants Scheme, so Adrift Lab are fortunate to be one of only ten winners in 2020.

Bali’s primary supervisor is Dr Jack Rivers-Auty. She and Jack will join the rest of the Adrift team on Lord Howe Island in April 2021 to undertake sampling to support this PhD project, as well as other projects requiring fieldwork on the island.
