Preparing for Modern Graphical Abstracts

At Adrift Lab, we work as a team to develop short, interactive workshops. These are much-anticipated events, as they often tackle challenging social/science issues, such as authorship roles, or techniques that have been the topic of frequent one-on-one discussion.

These workshops are an opportunity to identify solutions to common problems in a friendly and collaborative environment, often with support from experts from other disciplines. In July 2020, Adrift Lab invited visual designer Jesse Benjamin to host a workshop focused on creating graphical abstracts which are increasingly required during the publication process.

"This lesson was inclusive for people like myself with no prior knowledge of the topic. The ease of teaching by Jesse has provided us with greater confidence in picking up new skills, and expressing ourselves in a creative sense. Having a basic understanding will improve our independent learning when using tools such as video tutorials to build on what we now know."
