My name is Varun and I'm about to start my 3rd year in Fisheries Management at UTAS. I'd first like to say what an amazing opportunity it is to be part of the Adrift Lab team. Having people like Jenn and Alex, who are experienced in the field on my supervisory panel for my Honours project is more than I could have hoped. Definitely not forgetting my fellow Adrift Lab teammates, who have been more than helpful!

Since I can remember, I have always been interested in sharks. Therefore, my research will be primarily focus on sharks originating from the Bass Strait, to determine whether there are signs of plastic ingestion and to measure the concentration of metals in their tissues.

I’m thrilled to have been awarded a UTAS Dean's Summer Scholarship, which will help me to kick-start my research project.
