Adrift Lab returns to the Beaker Street Festival for winter 2024

Adrift Lab were thrilled to be invited back to Beaker Street Festival. From 9-11 August we hosted two events.

First, the Adrift Lab #ArtSci exhibition at The Old Mercury Building which featured our #seabird and #plastics research. Our interactive, educational and immersive display encouraged visitors to walk through a series of recycled and repurposed tables, upon which videos of our team and research were displayed. #Shearwaters that had been taxidermied were also displayed with the plastic each bird had ingested (this seemed to really resonate with visitors; see main photo).

Second, Dr Jenn was invited to be the guest speaker for MONA Museum's "Future Feast" event. The brief (or synopsis) for this imaginative, thought-provoking event was "The year is 2050, and climate change has wreaked havoc on our planet, translating to a complete disruption in food production and supply. Or has it? Join us for a fantastical feast, prepared by Mona head chef Vince Trim, as we imagine how a range of possible futures might taste. We’ll hear from one scientist working in the trenches, and another steeped in possible solutions, to serve up two very different potential outcomes based on our current actions."
