Adrift Lab writing retreat success

In late-November, the Adrift Lab team got together for another of our “Writing Retreats” where we bring everyone together in the same room for a few days of writing, data analyzing, idea sharing, and laughter. This model has worked so well for us in the past that we’ve grown to rely on (and look oh-so-forward to) getting together at least once a year. The amount of work we complete in only a few days would normally take ~12 months due to competing demands and time zone differences. This time around we managed to:
- Submit/re-submit five papers, including one that had already been submitted to Nature a few months ago (revisions!) and a new paper that also went to Nature.
- Write and submit an entirely new paper (one we did not plan, but was inspired by ideas and frustrations during the retreat).
- Identify priority projects and funding for 2026, including papers that will feature in our upcoming April writing retreat
At the end of each retreat, we walk away feel re-energized, having supported our students and each other in meaningful ways.
