Richard Farr

Cartographer in residence

During his MSc research (in Remote Sensing), Richard has worked closely with the Adrift Lab team to develop monitoring programs and collect data on a cryptic and endangered species, the Malleefowl. Since graduating and becoming an Adrift Lab alumini, Richard has continued to be a valued member of our team, assisting students and staff with creating high-resolution maps for upcoming research articles. We are endlessly grateful for his skill and contributuions, awarding him the much-deserved title of “Cartographer in Residence”.

As a team, we are uncomfortable with individual team members being ’employed’ in voluntary, unpaid positions (curious to know why? read here and here). Therefore Adrift Lab seeks to compensate our team members beyond acknowledgement in papers. Whenever possible, we include our team members in funding applications as named and paid positions and list them as co-authors on articles so that the scale of their contribution aligns with the recognition provided, and can therefore contribute to future career opportunities.
